VR Application – Foundry

A pioneering VR implementation in Polish foundry industry — a VR Showroom for GIFA 2019 and an onboarding training system for crane operators. 30% increase in leads, 30% reduction in training time, 3,000+ users (2019–2025).

VR Application – Foundry

Project Background

Krakodlew S.A. — a foundry with a history dating back to the 1950s, employing nearly 250 people, producing large-scale castings (over 90% for export). The world’s largest foundry trade fair — GIFA 2019 in Düsseldorf — was approaching.

Challenges

  • Improving brand recognition by creating a VR Showroom for GIFA 2019
  • Building employer brand awareness among technical school students
  • Creating a complete training path for onboarding new employees (crane operators)

Approach

An extensive user research phase: direct observation of production processes, interviews with new and experienced employees, a concept faithfully reflecting the production workflow.

A clear and minimalist VR interface, a library of real products based on technical documentation, reconstruction of the foundry floor, physical VR station (wireless, mobile). Team of 5. Engine — Unreal Engine. Headset — HTC Vive Pro Full Kit.

Results

  • Increase in leads at GIFA 2019 — 30%
  • VR application users (2019–2025) — approx. 3,000 people
  • Reduction in crane operator onboarding time — 30%

„Marcin created an absolute differentiator for us in the foundry market. We were probably the first foundry in the world to implement a VR solution… We gained a unique onboarding tool for new employees and a communication tool for students… Thanks to this tool, we were able to demystify the industry.”
